With tears trickling down her cheeks, she stared at the peephole, envisioning him staring back. The thought of him watching her stung and cut a path through her heart. I love you. I'm so sorry.
Hands still shaking, she reached in her purse and pulled out her cell phone. She dialed Gavin's number. Eyes locked on his door, she listened to it ring over and over again. You know what to do. That sweet voice would forever haunt her if he didn't take her back. That sweet, pleading voice that had begged her to believe him. She hung up, dialed again, and listened once more. She didn't speak. She couldn't. Her frantic breathing would be the only message he would receive.
Words,,, she had none.
Emily pressed a hand to her mouth as the realization he wasn't forgiving her set in. For a few painful moments, she was silent. Then grief erupted in her chest. A torrent of tears flew down her cheeks. Her cries echoed throughout the hallway.
She retreated and felt her back hit the wall. She stared at his door, the vivid memory of his face ingrained in her head. Searing pain surged and twisted in her gut as she slowly made her way into the elevator, her heart plummeting with its descent. Shoulders slumped and spirit broken, Emily unlocked the door to her apartment. A small light above the stove cast a faint glow across the living room.
Quieting her footsteps, so as not to wake Olivia, Emily made her way into her bedroom. Still shaking, a cloak of sadness enveloped her as she padded into her bathroom. She flipped on the light and stared at her reflection. The green eyes, once vivid with hope, held no semblance of life. She ran her fingers over her cheeks, muddied with mascara. Her face looked pale. Even worse, her heart was stricken with loss. She flattened her palms against the cool marble surface of the sink, hung her head, and wept, gulping for air as pain so deep blanketed her soul.
Regret in the most brutal form tightened like an unforgiving noose around her neck. She tried to calm down by turning on the hot water and splashing her face. After reaching for a towel, she dried herself and shut off the light. Fatigue slowed her feet as she made her way to her bed, and she curled up on her side. Exhausted, she sank into the mattress, attempting to gain a few hours of sleep. But that wouldn't come. As seconds, minutes, and hours ticked by, Gavin's pained face and confused blue eyes invaded Emily's conscience.
She drew in a shaky breath, rolled onto her back, and stared at the ceiling. Over the next few hours, swells of gut-wrenching pain rippled across her heart. She'd let him slip through her fingers. Trying to ignore the ear-piercing sound of Blake Industries' private jet's engines firing up, Gavin wondered if Emily would remember things he'd never forget.
Wondered how this was truly the end. He'd lost her. In less than seven hours, she would be Dillon's for good. He tugged his suitcase from the back of Colton's Jeep, his heart sinking further into his stomach as he peered into the clear, cold night sky.
Colton stepped onto the tarmac, his expression no more at ease than it'd been when Gavin came to him. He also wasn't sure if he'd ever be free from the ache of needing her. The only emotion he truly fucking owned,,, he knew he had to get out of New York. Get the fuck out, and get far away from the ghost of Emily that would no doubt haunt him.
Just take care of switching our stocks out of Dillon's hands. Promise me you'll put Emily to rest while you're down there. Turning, he watched his brother drive off the property of the small, private airport. Mind-fucked and in the deepest turmoil of his life, Gavin dug into the pocket of his jeans and pulled out his cell phone.
Without looking at it, he tossed it onto the runway. It shattered when it hit the ground. Off the grid meant off the grid. No contact with anyone.
No one trying to pull him from his pain, and no one trying to convince him his actions were destructive. After handing his bags to the flight attendant, the pilot came out to greet him. His gray hair spilled over his forehead. He closed the door, and his eyes immediately landed on a bottle of bourbon screaming his name on the minibar.
He gazed at it with contempt. Darkness seeped in around him. He peeled off his coat and tossed it onto the bed. Trying to stave off the evil angel invading his thoughts, he strode across the small space and reached for the mind-numbing amber liquid. Deciding to forgo a glass, he twisted off the cap and brought the bottle to his lips. The alcohol burned down his throat, offering up not an ounce of reprieve from his pain.
It was then Gavin knew there would never be a time in his life he wouldn't be aware of Emily's absence. Drunk or sober, she would riddle his heart and soul until the day he died. He loved her. Breathed her in as if she were the air around him,,, the air he would be deprived of forever.
He placed the bottle down, ran an exhausted hand through his hair, and attempted to cast visions of Emily's beautiful eyes staring back at him from his memory. This story starts as a little bit of a love triangle, but then only true love will be the one to conquer. What will happen when Emily is finally able to be with the one man she truly loves, will it be easy for her to fight and win for the truth burning inside her heart?
As far as the story goes, it was very well written in my opinion. The characters were all well developed but that doesn't mean I was a fan of them all. Emily, I wish she could been stronger at times but I understood the role her past had played into her actions. Dillon, I absolutely hated; he will probably win first place on most annoying characters , ever. And Gavin, well, he takes the crown as most delectable Alpha Male.
I really enjoyed this story and for sure I will recommended it to all my friends. View all 43 comments. I was desperate to get my hands on the sequel!! After much anticipation I was so happy to reconnect with Emily and Gavin and live out their happy ever after. Well I hoped they would get a hea! I love the theme of fate running through this story, the idea that there is someone for everyone, you just have to wait for your paths to cross at the right moment and if you miss your moment, there will always be another chance.
I LOVE that and believe in it!!! You're gentle. You're kind. You're strong and witty. You're personable and warm. You can reduce most females into blithering puddles of goo with the simplest words.
He also has very gifted fingers and, " Ladies, he knows how to please which makes for a smoking HOT read!! It was all moving along so nicely maybe too nicely? I was waiting for an aghhhh moment I felt like something drastic was going to happen I loved the whole drama with view spoiler [ the baby and, whose the Daddy? But, really, it had to belong to Gavin or I think there would have been a riot!! If you haven't read Collide Bottle Tops and Twenty Questions create some very memorable, sweet moments View all 45 comments.
Okay, give me a moment to breathe. This was so, SOOO, good. Mainly, because I have no idea what to say except: The book started right after the end of the first, when Emily finally got some sense in his head and left Dillon and gone to fight for Gavin. I loved this book even more than the first one. I didn't know that would be possible considering that the first one was real great. It wasn't as much angsty thank god! And the steam was better.
Emily really redeemed herself in my eyes and she had a great attitude through this whole book Gavin, well… was even more perfect than before. Did I already told that I love Olivia? For some seconds she really pissed me off, but other than that she was as great as before. Dillon was the exactly same asshole he was in the first one. Probably even more.
But all the times he appears were that number of times too many. Stupid asshole. Well, I can only say that this was an amazing ending for a perfect series. I loved the conclusion, loved how the characters ending, loved everything. View all 41 comments. Firstly I want to say my rating is not based on the writing. Its beautiful.
Its sexy as hell, and her storytelling skills are superb! Really amazing! I will read anything she writes. The reason I gave this one three stars is because I'm the type of girl who doesn't need the fairy tale ending.
I don't need a sequel to be wrapped up 3. I don't need a sequel to be wrapped up in a perfect package to get closure and feel complete and all warm and fuzzy. I don't need to be told on every page how much the two main characters love each other, are meant for each other, and are sexually in sync with each other. I don't need a whole story to convince me of that.
But I guess I was just hoping for a sequel a bit different from the normal kind of sequel. I also felt like the drama was pretty minor. I already knew by the end of book 1. So when Dillon tried to interfere, I knew it would go no where And that pissed me off, and not in a good way. But my initial thoughts after I read it were: It's a bit too sugary and predictable for my personal taste but that's just me so do not let that deter you from reading it and 3. He was beyond the perfect kind of Alpha male.
I really loved him!! So if you love sequels which feel like they will 'complete you' and give you all the closure you need - then PULSE will be perfect for you. I would recommend it! Especially for swoon worthy Gavin sigh View all 11 comments.
It was good at first, but I don't know, I kinda got bored with it. I want to give it a 3 but I love the first book, although I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first, still, it's good. May 03, Ramona rated it it was amazing Shelves: One of my favorite book has a sequel and I am so excited to share with you my opinion about it.
Collide was awesome in all the right places and I fell in love with Gavin and Emily almost immediately, because as a couple they are intense and sweet. The last chapter from Collide managed to cut my blood circulation and I was hungry to read Pulse..
I was so sorry with what happened to Gavin and really mad at Emily for making this happen. Now, we embark in a very adventurous attempt to get Gavin back, One of my favorite book has a sequel and I am so excited to share with you my opinion about it. Now, we embark in a very adventurous attempt to get Gavin back, and I am all aboard with it.
Emily needs Gavin forgiveness and heads out to find him.
You have to read the book to find out what happens next, but it is worth every page. At the beginning, he find a wrecked Gavin, that lost all hope in being with the woman he loves.
He is not very confident in their love, and very afraid that Emily will leave him again. A second attempt may destroy him completely. From my point of view he forgave her too easily.. I mean.. She dumped him without accepting a justification, without talking to him, rushed the marriage plans she has with her boyfriend and just shut him out.
I was extremely sad to witness Gavin's hurt and just so mad at Emily.. She should have been more mature and not fall victim to anger and hurt. But leaving this aside, I thought that Emily will grow on me again, and just be patience to see how the action develops. Gavin, if possible, is even more amazing than in Collide and made me fall in love with him even more.
Book Two in the Collide Series He doesn't want want to be away from Emily anymore and will do anything to keep her, to protect her from the ones that want to harm her. He is so confident and determined to show her the bright future they have ahead, and he is just perfect. Half through the book, we are faced with a twist that felt us OMG, and in this situation we she what a great and lovable man he is. He is willing to except anything from Emily, if it means being with her forever.
There is something you don't find every day and spoke to highly about him. I hope he exists in real life and that some girl gets to enjoy him: I found a more mature Emily, a more determined and confident one, that managed to keep her fears aside and confront her problems. She made a great team with Gavin and I was happy that all the fears were gone between them.
The mystery behind it was a stroke of genius for Gail's part and added to the drama of the series. Everything was perfect beside that one chapter that took like 5 year of my life in just 10 minutes, and after reaching the next one, 5 years more to adjust to reality.
I mean, it was that necessary? Never mind.. I love this book with everything in it and totally recommend it for the awesome hero, great plot and extremely intense love scenes.. For more reviews please check https: View all 6 comments. Jul 15, K. I get the whole obsession with Gavin now.
I didn't in Collide to be honest but how can you not love a man who treats a woman with the utmost respect?
View all 4 comments. Can I just start out by saying Gavin is perfection, ladies? This man delivers it all My Gavin- Pulse starts off on the heels of the cliffy we all endured in Collide.
Don't read further if you've not read Collide as it has some spoilers. Dillon was a total douche and Emily has walked out on him the eve of their wedding. Emily can't marry that man. He's a monster. What a huge mistake. Is it too late to get Gavin back? Can she find him since he walked out at the rehearsal dinner? Will he slam the door in her face? She's sure going to try My Dillon- My Emily- Huge things happen throughout this book and no spoilers here.
It's vague but their story has to be experienced as it comes. Even if some of those events made me want to throw my kindle against the hardest wall I could find. What I loved about this book- -The love story. I loved the progression of everything. It was well paced, the sex scenes very erotic and captivating. The character development of Emily, Gavin and Dillon was all stellar. I mean, Gavin surely stole the show but how can he not? I loved the cutesie little "inside jokes and games" between Emily and Gavin.
It was realistic and endearing. My highlights Loved loved loved it. Now to be the buzz kill What I detested about this book- -The annoying overuse of similes. Trying to add that but it just was overused and strange. I highlighted a few as an example It was just excessive and distracting.
To the point it annoyed me. I can skim past a couple but beyond that, get a BFF beta reader prior to publication! Do not hit the spoiler unless you've read the book! Or maybe you should as it may save you the anguish and anger I felt with this author.
That made me so mad, I almost chucked the book and asked site for a refund. It got old. Shoot, the main plot twist ya know, the "little tidbit" I'm referring to if you read this book I saw coming in the first book. It was just way too predictable. Fourth, and I hope it's not too picky but the use of Massive Attack's "Angel" as a song he listens to while thinking of her Um, that's been used in two other romance novels in the past couple years. Find something new Good song, just not original.
Yes, it sounds as if my negatives outweigh my positives but they really don't. Did they annoy me? They just hugely prevented this book from being one of my favorites of this year. And sadly, easily prevented on a literary standpoint. I shall miss Gavin View all 31 comments. The anticipation is already killing me , its been two freaking days since i finished the first book, emily and gavin have well and truely imbedded themselves into my heart and sole.

I am one of the lucky ones that received this perfect gift of a book early. This book blew me away! After the ending of Collide I thought that I was going to die And I prepared myself for heartache and pain, angst And although there is all of the above in this story, it is also a beautiful tale of love, sacrifice and redemption.
IT IS!! View all 5 comments. Can I just say I looooove Gavin? He is the ultimate book bf - Sweet, sexy, alpha, wiseass, shmexy, swoon-worthy, bottle cap tossing, Yankee lovin bundle of awesomness!
I loved the romance in this book. I truly loved how Gavin picked Em up and never let her forget how much he loves her. He did it not only in word but action. Truly, one of the best book romances ever. Even though at times it was sticky sweet. Cassie Dee. The story seems like it may be ok but those voices she is trying are aweful!!!!! On to the next book Jessy Eckstet. Especially the Male ones. They Sound all stupid und are getting in My nerves.
Thx for uploading. I love this site!!!. Michelle Winston. Shut the front door, I think my heart just stopped beating. Good thing I love a good heart attack.
