Initial costs are minimal. Course Objective The objective of this course is to familiarize students with the web design process. Students begin with basics using a simple text editor, then move to more advanced development tools as they create a personal website. Special emphasis is placed on creating well-formed HTML5, and progressive enhancement as a best practice.
This is a holistic approach that addresses the three roles of the web designer: It is meant as a week overview of the process resulting in an online website. Further knowledge is encouraged. It is intended for anyone interested in the design field, whether professionally or personally, and has the desire to create their own website. Anyone comfortable with their computer and file management saving your files and knowing where to find them , will be successful.
No prior programming experience is necessary.
This is a quick-paced course, covering a large subject area, but taught in a gentle, hands-on format. Prerequisites There are no prerequisites for this course, but a basic computer applications understanding or course will enhance your learning. Instructional Method Class will consist of lecture of a web development theme, hands-on exercises led by instructor, and weekly assignments to be completed outside of class, as well as class discussion. The course is taught in a PC lab.

Using floats and fluid layouts are discussed. Homework: Assignment 5: Add a contact page to your website, and send link to instructor.
Student Learning Outcomes: Utilize industry-standard web development tools such as Dreamweaver and Photoshop. Week 6: Lecture: Research: sites that offer tutorials on interactive effects are explored. Lab Activities: Creating a web gallery using Photoshop Lightroom. Homework: Assignment 6: Link your web gallery to your personal site.
