I believe that a new grammar should be written for Media Arabic in order to enable students to see the new developments such as the passive, the artificial verbal noun, the use of the prepositions etc.
Intimate contact between Arabic and the main European languages altered the style of writing the Arabic sentence which in several ways follows English-language style.
Often, one can translate, for example, an English sentence into Arabic in the same syntactic order although we are dealing with two entirely different language families. Not only the syntax, but also the Arabic vocabulary changed under the influence of the European languages, mainly with closer contact with English and French. Arabic vocabulary assimilated thousands of vocables relative to the many born as internal developments of Arabic.
This book also is intended to show new Arabic phraseology, often ignored by modern dictionaries resulting in comprehension difficulties due to the lack of explanation of these phrases. Moin Halloun, Professor of Semitic Languages, Department of Arabic Language and Literature, Bethlehem University Due to intensive interaction with the rest of the world in consequence of the globalization, the Arabic language is rapidly changing its syntax, lexicon and style.
Hundreds of lexemes were innovated, used in Media Arabic, and not registered in modern dictionaries. This Lexicon: This lexicon was compiled based on material not found in Wehrs Dictionary English Edition but which has become widespread in the media.
It does, however, include some words or terms that are found in Wehr, but they appear here only to explain wider linguistic developments. Only words and terms that appear regularly in the media and have become public knowledge are included.
The Lexicon is arranged according to the Arabic root. The root will be followed by words derived from this root or by compound nouns that contain the same root. The Arabic will be followed by transcription of it in Latin letters.
This lexicon will be followed by a complimentary book. Accordingly, if you know the root of a group of words, then you can easily guess the meaning of any new word that has the same root. Understand context, learn new words in context, rather than memorizing meaningless independent words.
This strategy will also help you to learn to use those words in sentences. Practice: use new words in conversations with your teachers or friends.
Unused things that stay stowed away in the same place, for long periods of time, can be forgotten. This is why you should use new words, as much as you can.
