They didn't embrace Why they should change their culture of low productivity. We soon went back to leadership and shared the best practices and research the Why behind increasing their effort and doing everything faster, and productivity went up dramatically.

Now imagine trying to sell a backhoe to someone with no authority or power to download it. It doesn't matter how compelling the Why if selling to the wrong Who. He shows how great leaders inspire everyone to take action. Most leaders and companies start from the outside in.

They start with What. He says inspired leaders think, act, and communicate from the inside out. They start with Why. He says the Why is not to make a profit. Why does your organization exist?
